At the month-end summary, it would be helpful to see how much was left over within Checking (or some other designated account). This would help to identify any recurring surplus that could be safely allocated to retirement or other savings.
This is for people like myself who don’t budget 100% of their monthly income, and typically have some percentage surplus every month. I do notice I am maintaining a decent balance in my Checking, but it’s not easy to understand how much of that is truly “floating”
