Non-monthly budgets
Andres
Support budgets that don't fit in the month-to-month model (yearly, quarterly, etc).

Ricardo: Hey Ricardo! We simplified our Canny organization recently, so it's just the status name of the any Feature Request not "In Progress" or "Complete".

Omar: We re-organized/corrected some statuses our Canny to more accurately reflect their development status. We're currently working on Savings Goals, which is marked as IN PROGRESS.

Expense groups for trips, projects
G
Geoff
It would be great to have secondary groupings if expenses for things like trips or large projects. I say secondary because the items would still keep their primary categories (eg groceries, car, etc).
These expense groups (eg basement renovation) would make it easier to optionally exclude from monthly budgets.

Bi-Weekly Budgeting

I get paid biweekly (like most people) and I’d love the ability to think about budgets between paychecks - rather than just monthly.

Vacation budget that isn’t attached to your monthly budget
B
Brett
Since I don’t normally vacation every month it would be nice to have a separate mini budget for vacations. For example, once I hit my vacation savings goal it would be nice to reference how much I spend on vacation to make sure I don’t exceed what I saved for the trip. I also think it would be best for it to not be attached to my regular monthly budget.

More “granular” week/day budget pacing

Level money (acquired by capital one) did such a great job of this.
Basic framework was annual income - bills = discretionary.
Within discretionary bucket, you can set budgets down to the weekly level and a progress indicator (bar chart) showed how much you have left to spend in the week. It was super sticky bc I was logging in every few days.

different budget durations

for those whose paychecks differ each pay period, it would be great to be able to adjust how long the budget lasts. i get paid every two weeks and my budgets are never consistent enough to successfully use the monthly format

allocations for specific months

It would be awesome to be able to add in budgets for particular months that “recur” but are not tied to a particular transaction. That way I can plan to reallocate some spending to gifts during months with family birthdays, for example, but I won’t need to include that category month to month when it only applies to some.

Create rolling budget separate from main budget

I’d be nice if we could crest a budget that we can add expenses to and then get a cumulative total at the end of specified time period. We’re tracking tuition charges for school and need to find out the total yearly costs for us

Non-Monthly Categories

Michael
In short, it would be cool to have a way to track goals, and or expenses that don’t happen every month necessarily. For example, I want to save up for an $800 course. It would be cool if I can put money towards that each month and somehow see my progress over time.

Annual Expenses

I would really appreciate the ability to mark expenses as either yearly, such as an Amazon yearly subscription. To further that, it would be great to be able to then split that expense up per month. The same concept could be applied to an annual savings goal.
A yearly category total view would be helpful too.
